When: 29th May 2017 @19:00 – 29th May 2017 @21:00
Devised theatre is a journey. We start with an idea, or a concept, a piece of text or an object… and dive into the abyss of the unknown. Through rehearsed improvisation, specialist games, techniques and group exercises, we will foster our imaginative freedom and create work that is organic, original and dynamic. The devised theatre process allows opportunity to experiment and play, to explore possibilities and to work together to make exciting new theatre.
Our starting point will be the exploration of emotions; how emotions such as intense joy, anger, and the whole spectrum of conscious states effect us, how we portray these effectively as actors, and the stories that these feelings will reveal.
This course is suitable for actors and non actors and is limited to 12 participants only.
Emma trained as an actor, receiving her BA (Hons) Performing Arts from Salford University in 2004. She trained as a drama teacher and received her PGDE(S) Drama with distinction at Aberdeen University. Emma has worked as an actor, TV presenter and drama teacher across the UK and USA, performing, presenting, producing shows, teaching and facilitating workshops for all ages across diverse communities and in schools. Her training in devised theatre led her to form a theatre company in Manchester which went on to create original theatrical performances throughout the fringe scene including the Edinburgh Festival. Emma also currently runs a weekly drop in improv for adults’ workshop in Forres where she is dazzled by the talents and hilarity this wonderful area has to offer!
