INSIDE YOGA – Retreat 2017
The special surroundings and the movement lessons on this retreat will allow you to release physical and emotional tension and find more rest inside. This is a retreat with a difference; expect a journey – facilitated by a coherent and fascinating programme, including; yoga, somatic exercise, mindfulness, free dance and. partner work. Your journey will be varied and a lot of fun, with time to rest and explore the beauty of the surrounding area.
Yoga can be used to practice embodiment – to go inside and explore spaces and connections within your body. When you practice from this perspective , in the right setting and under good guidance, new and wonderful things start to happen :-
- The larger, more dominant muscles of your body start to work less and you move easier
- Long held tensions dissolve as habitually tight muscles release
- Your body relaxes into expansion, it literally opens up and you start to move more naturally
- Repetitive thought activity slows down, you become calmer and feel better

Yoga practice sessions that will allow you to deepen your embodiment to discover greater lightness and mobility
Mindful movement lessons where you will learn to release tight muscles and move with a new found ease
Amazing workshops from guest teachers including; – Nia dance, yin yoga, flow Pilates and more.

Who’s it for ?
The retreat is for if you want to deepen your yoga practise and refresh your sense of wellbeing generally. It is designed for experienced practitioners and those new to yoga. it is suitable if you have restricted mobility, if you hold stress and muscle tightness you will benefit from the work. This retreat is safe and enjoyable to attend by yourself, you don’t have to know other attendees, new friendships will be made !
Craig Buchanan will lead the retreat, Craig is a yoga and somatic exercise teacher based in central Scotland. Craig’s teaching focusses on embodied awareness to let the body open, soften and take support from the ground better. You will work mindfully with Craig to experience subtle internal movements that will release tightness and free up your spine. See http://www.insideyoga.net for more.
The assistant yoga teacher is Dawn Donovan who teaches in the London area, Dawn specializes in Hatha and yin yoga.
Venue – For the 4 days you will be in Newbold house – the beautiful retreat haven in northeast Scotland, on the outskirts of the pretty village of Forres. It’s a modernised victorian mansion with 7 acres of organic walled gardens within extensive woodlands. The peaceful setting combined with the warmth and professionalism of the support staff make this a special place you’ll want to come back to.
